Meet Our School Board
The ICS School Board is responsible for the overall direction and vision of the school, its policies, and its financial health, including approving tuition rates and the annual budget. They oversee and work closely with the Head of School. The School Board meets monthly for prayer, to discuss policy decisions, review operational progress, and for strategic planning.
Shannon Lusk, PhD, PE
Board Chairperson
Dr. Shannon Lusk has been married to her husband, Braden, since 2000, and together they have two daughters, Kendrick (12th grade) and Gillian (10th grade). The Lusk family attends Corner Canyon Church, and Shannon also invests in the ICS community as the coach of the Lady Lions Girls Basketball team.
Professionally, Shannon is a licensed Professional Engineer with more than two decades of experience in civil and mining engineering, consulting, and education. She earned her B.S. in Civil Engineering and her Ph.D. in Mining Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T).
Before relocating to Utah in 2020, Shannon built a multifaceted career as an engineering consultant across Kansas, Missouri, and Kentucky. For 16 years, she founded and managed her own consulting firm, serving major clients such as Dow Chemical, Kinross, and Dominion. Her work spanned land development, mine safety and product approval, and technical review of engineering litigation.
Her leadership experience includes serving as Chairperson of the Kentucky Mining Board (appointed by Governor Beshear), coordinating and teaching in an online Mining Management and Safety Program at Midway College, and teaching in the Mining Engineering Department at the University of Kentucky. She also served as an affiliate professor for Project Lead the Way. Today, Shannon owns and operates Lusk Consulting, LLC, while continuing to share her gifts in leadership, education, and mentorship within the ICS community.
Mark Parrett
Board Treasurer
Mark Parrett has served on the ICS board since 2020. He has been married to his wife Amelia, whom he met while an undergrad at Princeton University, for 20 years and they are blessed to be raising three daughters who attend Intermountain Christian School. The Parrett family attends The Mission Church in South Jordan.
Mark spent the first decade of his career in finance, initially at the International Monetary Fund where he taught (in Spanish!) a monetary policy course for central bankers. Next, Mark spent the exciting years of 2006-2008 at Freddie Mac where he helped lead the equity investor relations team during the mortgage crisis. Moving to Utah in 2009, the Lord opened doors to allow Mark to lead mergers and acquisitions work at the outdoor retailer Backcountry and then to lead teams at several tech startups in Utah.
After starting a blog and podcast, Abraham’s Wallet, aimed at helping young families take a Biblical view of financial and household management, Mark eventually saw the opportunity to shift his professional life to working full time with families as a financial planner. He founded Outpost Advisors - a registered investment advisory firm - in 2019 and still serves as a founder and board member of Abraham’s Wallet, a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Mark holds a Certified Financial Planner designation and a master’s of business administration.
Mark has been blessed to serve ICS as a golf coach, financial literacy instructor, corporate sponsor and proud basketball, soccer, and dance parent. His wife Amelia, an OB/Gyn and the Medical Director at the Charis Pregnancy Clinic, also can be found teaching maturation classes for the young ladies in our community and serving in the halls of our school.
Amber Furze
Amber Furze is honored to serve on the Intermountain Christian School Board, now in her fourth year of service. An ICS alumna, Amber has a lifelong connection to the school and a deep appreciation for its mission. She and her husband, Derek, have been active members of the ICS community for many years. Amber and Derek came to ICS after homeschooling their 4 boys through their early education. Their oldest son, Noah, graduated in 2025 and now attends the University of Utah, while their younger sons—Caleb (senior), Wyatt (sophomore), and Lucas (8th grade)—continue at ICS.
Amber’s commitment to ICS is rooted in her family’s legacy of service. Her parents, Butch and Judy Cosgrove, have long supported the school: her father coached girls’ basketball for over 20 years, and her mother taught kindergarten. Together, they poured countless hours into fundraising events and school activities, instilling in Amber a love for ICS and its mission.
Professionally, Amber works full-time as a registered nurse at a surgical center, where she is known for her compassion, skill, and teamwork. She has also given back to ICS directly—assistant coaching the high school girls’ basketball team for three seasons and volunteering across a variety of school activities. Her experiences as an alumna, parent, nurse, coach, and board member give her a unique perspective on how best to support students, families, and staff.
Beyond her professional and volunteer roles, Amber’s greatest joy is being a wife to Derek and cheering on her four sons in sports and in life. The Furze family attends Lifeline Community Church. Amber is passionate about ICS’s mission to equip students academically and spiritually for lives of purpose and impact, and she counts it a privilege to partner with her fellow board members in strengthening the school’s vision for the future.
Reilly Hobbs
Reilly Hobbs has served on the Intermountain Christian School Board since 2023. He is eternally grateful to God for the greatest gifts in his life—his wife, Rachael, and their three children, Jackson, Margot, and Ivy. Together, the Hobbs family are members of Gospel Hope Church in Riverton, Utah.
Reilly’s greatest desire as a board member is to faithfully support Intermountain Christian School in its mission to create devoted followers of Christ while promoting academic excellence, equipping students to reach their full God-given potential.
Professionally, Reilly is an academic pediatric heart surgeon at Primary Children’s Hospital, where he serves infants and children born with congenital heart defects. In addition to his clinical work, he conducts research aimed at improving outcomes for children and families affected by congenital heart disease, and he also leads basic science investigations focused on discovering biomarkers of cellular injury.
Caress Perry
Caress Perry joined the ICS Board in 2025 and attends The Well Church with her husband, Josh, and their two children, Isabelle and Uriah.
Caress brings a wealth of classroom and educational leadership experience to the board. After earning both her undergraduate in education and master’s in educational leadership from Utah State University, she began her teaching career there before moving on to Mount Logan Middle School and Matheson Junior High. In 2012, her family relocated to Vermont, where she taught visual arts at Grace Christian School and Mill River Union High School.
In 2017, the Perry family returned to Utah, where Caress began teaching at Churchill Junior High. Her excellence was quickly recognized when she was named Region 5 Teacher of the Year in 2021. She later earned a coveted spot in Granite School District’s Emerging Leader program and now teaches at Kearns High School, where her courses span visual arts, credit recovery, peer leadership, and freshman success. Caress also completed an internship in educational administration in 2021.
Throughout her career, Caress has been passionate about strengthening school culture through systematic improvement. She has consistently implemented initiatives that foster thriving, disciplined, and supportive learning environments, and she brings that same vision and energy to her role on the ICS Board - where she has already begun to implement best practices aimed at further strengthening the ICS culture. When she’s not teaching and serving on the school board, Mrs. Perry is also one of our middle school volleyball coaches!
Joe Luplow
Joe Luplow began serving on the board in 2023. He has been married to his wife Laurie for 13 years, and together they have six children - current and future ICS Lions. The Luplow family attends The Mission Church, where Joe serves on the worship and prayer ministry teams.
Originally from Michigan, Joe graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2009, and after working for one of the world's best-selling recording artists, he transitioned to a career in technology sales and leadership.
Starting in 2010, Joe began his career at Dell Technologies. He has served in a variety of roles at Dell. After becoming one of the youngest Regional Sales Directors at the company, he led a team of account executives supporting state and local government, K12, higher education, and large enterprise customers for half of the United States. Joe’s professional gifts lie in his ability to combine strategic foresight, operational discipline, and collaborative leadership—making him a trusted advisor to customers, a respected team leader, and a key contributor to growth across diverse teams. He’s excited to take his professional experience and put those gifts to work in service of Intermountain Christian School.
