As a college preparatory school, ICS places a high priority on academic excellence, but the goal of an ICS education has an end far beyond college entrance and preparation. An ICS education is about formation, not merely information. That is why we focus on the whole student and not just academics. After leaving ICS, your children will be prepared to live a life that honors God, they will know what it means to enjoy Him forever, and they will understand what it means to be redemptive people in a broken world.

Spiritual Formation beyond the classroom

We are deeply committed to biblical integration in our curriculum, but biblical influence and discipleship does not stop there. Here are some additional ways we are committed to this:

  • Chapel & Small Groups - Each week every student from 1st grade through 12th grade engages in chapel taught by a local pastor or influential Christian adult. Middle and high school students also participate in weekly small groups! Middle school small groups are lead by our high school students, and high school small groups are led by an ICS staff member. Each week, we worship and listen to God’s word together as we learn to live as followers of Jesus.

  • Service - All of our students engage in service projects and work to serve God together. We believe that Christ-followers are servants and we model that regularly.

  • Community - There is no such thing as a “lone ranger Christian” and our students develop a good sense of that. Through our high school’s “community time” in the middle of each day, or through teams, clubs, small groups, and other group activities, we strive to enstill a deep sense of community in each and every child.

Teachers, Mentors, Disciplers

Our faculty and staff make intentional time to develop meaningful, life-impacting relationships with our students. They are committed to shepherding each student, from helping them walk in their giftings to taking the time to disciple and discipline. Here are just a few ways our employees are invested in ICS students:

  • Small Groups - Most of our upper school teachers and staff are involved in leading a small group or a chapel service.

  • Field Studies - All 8th-12th grade students go on a 3-4 day field studies experience led by their teachers and mentors. This is an intentional time to not only grow in community but also in service to others.

  • Coaching - Our coaches are carefully chosen to be strong believers who are committed to standing with athletes and developing their character.

  • Community Events - Our faculty and staff is always there. Whether a play, game, concert, or other event, our teachers love to be in attendance cheering their students on.
